ARGAO: South of Cebu Celebrating 400 years of township
Friday, October 16, 2009
A third-class municipality, Argao is bounded on the north by the Municipality of Sibonga; on the south by the Municipality of Dalaguete; on the west by the Municipalities of Dumanjug, Ronda, Alcantara, Moalboal, and Badian; and on the east by the Bohol Strait.
It has 45 barangays with a total land area of 21,044.72 hectares.
Central to the pueblo is the plaza, where Argawanons and guests can surf the Internet through wi-fi (wireless fidelity) connectivity.
Across the street from the church are images of Joseph, Jesus, and Mary placed on pedestals.
Also on display in the plaza are Spanish cannons that “were used to defend the pueblo from Moro raiders,” according to a sign engraved in stone below them.
